No Ifs, Ands, or BUTTS about it: Behind the Scenes.

I've been contemplating a behind the scenes post for quite some time. But I knew it had to be just the right post with just the right people. Weddings are high-stakes, seniors definitely don't want a funny shot on the blog, and engagement couples want to be caught mid-kiss~ not mid-"reapplying lipgloss." But families and children...oh, my land. Children are filled to the brim with emotions and aren't afraid of telling you (or showing you) exactly how they feel.

I've developed a specific cliental of seniors and weddings, but every once in a while, I'll get the opportunity to photograph children. And the end result is beautiful. Moments that mamas and daddies (and grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles) need to see. Smiles, giggles, that unique silly face that only their baby can do. The end results are just what they need. But the in between? That's where the magic happens.

With permission from my sweet sister, I'm showing you a behind the scenes look to our most recent session. This could be quite eye-opening to those who have never had children photographed (or photographed them yourselves)~ and for those who have? Well, I expect some heads nodding in agreement and some laughter.

Not everyone can be a child photographer, but those who do possess that specific talent are greatly appreciated in this market...and let me tell me, they'll bring loads of patience to your session. ;)

Just look at that mischievous face! ;)

Are we done yet? (his thoughts, not mine! ;) )

I don't have lots of tricks up my sleeves for photographing children (making a fool out of myself helps), but times like the above? Worth it. 100%

No Ifs, Ands, or BUTTS about it. ;)

Introducing...mini-sessions!

I'm a huge proponent of saving money. Or not spending money. Unless we're talking about Old Navy knit sweaters (I own 5 in different colors). I'm a DIY, crafting, up-cycling queen, especially when we're in the midst of the holiday season.

And I know that holidays brings families together, but I also know that budgets are tight. So this year, I want to introduce a new (limited!) package. One that brings the family together. One that creates memories. One that helps keep your heart full...not to mention your wallet! ;)

Without further ado...

Ready for the details?

* $50 booking fee
* 30 minute session
* proofing gallery with 5 image digital download
* high-resolution disk available with all images for $25

It can happen on location of your choice (a small gas fee will apply 25 miles outside of Holland, MI), and this session is perfect for families...couples...or just yourself if you're looking to add to a portfolio.

Not only that, but hey, it makes a great Christmas gift. ;)

So open your e-mail (or the app on your smart-phone) and e-mail me at brennigan@bgphotographystudios.com to inquire about setting up a session through march 2012.

Happy Holidays!

A few boys that I'm thankful for...

In lieu of a Thanksgiving post (I'm late by three days for that already!), I'll play catch up with a session featuring a few boys that I'm thankful for. Meet Landon, Noah, and Everett. Oh, and their mama (my sister), Kristen.

Photobucket

Landon (8), my first-born nephew, has a pure heart: he is sensitive, grateful, eager to give, and cares for others. Did I mention he's a genius? I don't know if playing chess by 4 qualifies, but since I'm 23 and I can't...

Photobucket

Noah (5) has been called the joy-boy of the family. As a baby and through the years, he has a spirit of joy~ he is full of energy, laughs with gusto, and is child of great spirit. Can you see his red hair? Yes. Ball of energy, ball of fire.

Photobucket

Everett (10 months) is the youngest baby in our family. A perfect combination of his completely opposite brothers. I feel a special bond with this baby boy since I was there for his birth and the first few moments of his precious life (with camera in hand!). Ev is (joyfully & easily) along for the ride no matter how crazy it gets!\

Photobucket

Now...for more of these boys that I'm lovin'.

Engagement :: Shannon & Michael

I am particularly excited for you to meet Shannon and Michael for three reasons. One, I've know Shannon since high-school, and she is such a sweetheart. Two, they are getting married at Millcreek Barns next September (the same place I got married!)! And three, their love is beautiful.

They have been dating for quite some time, and they still make each other laugh ~ so much fun! They've formed an intimate bond that is secured with trust, respect, and love. And I cannot wait to document their union in the fall of 2012.

Photobucket

Shannon's ring was her grandmother's. The story of war-bride grandmother and how its being passed down in the family is so beautiful...not to mention the sparkle on that ring! Phew!

Photobucket

So in love. :)

Now...these shoes; an inside joke for the three of us on this stormy day. Yes, Michael loves his shoes.

Our day may have been windy and chilly, but your love kept us warm! What a pleasure it was to photograph the two of you! Happy planning! :)

Shannon & Michael :: Sneak Peek

In the midst of squeezing in any and all Fall activities (cue camping, carving pumpkins, lighting pumpkin crunch candles) into my calendar before the first snow of the year - you know its coming, Michiganders! - I was lucky enough to squeeze in an engagement session simply bursting with all that love should be.

A sneak peek of what I'm lucky enough to be working on this November night...

Nicole and Sanjeev :: St. Joseph Wedding

Nicole and Sanjeev celebrated their wedding day in St. Joseph, Michigan. A beautiful beach ceremony at Jean Klock Park filled with love and warm sunshine followed by a romantic reception at The Veranda at the Whitcomb on the bluff over-looking Lake Michigan (mm, first dances at sunset ~ squee!).

Their love is a quiet, steady love. And the embrace they shared at the altar after being pronounced man and wife left their guests sure of their everlasting commitment to one another. Friends and family traveled far to witness Nicole and Sanjeev's special day; but even with all their guests, they still only had eyes for each other.

Nicole is a stunning bride complemented well by her handsome husband ~ and together, they enjoyed their wedding day with ease...never letting mishaps spoil their one and only. Adam and I are so thankful to have been able to document their wedding day.

Nicole and Sanjeev :: We wish you love and happiness for all your years to come!
